First-Timer to Zoom? Here’s how…

Attending a Zoom event is as simple as picking up the phone or getting on the internet using your tablet, Kindle, iPad, computer or smartphone

  • Have a computer with working camera, microphone and speakers? When you receive the invitation and link from the Zoom host, simply click on the link at the appointed meeting time! 🙂
    • No microphone and/or speakers? Not necessarily a HUGE problem
      • use your computer for viewing on the bigger screen
      • AND use a tablet/Kindle/iPad for your camera/speakers (see instructions below)
      • OR use your smartphone for camera and sound (see instructions below), and computer for the larger screen to see all the people
      • OR use your regular phone for sound (see instructions below)
  • Have a tablet, Kindle or iPad?
    • Download the APP for your device from Zoom HERE
    • When you receive the invitation and link from the Zoom host, simply click on the link at the appointed meeting time and the APP should run automatically and connect you!
  • Have a smartphone?
    • Download the APP for your device from Zoom HERE
    • When you receive the invitation and link from the Zoom host, simply click on the link at the appointed meeting time and the APP should run automatically and connect you!
    • [NOTE: DEPENDING ON YOUR CELL PLAN, THIS MAY INVOLVE ADDITIONAL COSTS DUE TO AMOUNT OF DATA USAGE]
  • Want to listen in via phone? Simply call 1-253-215-8782 (this is NOT a local number so long-distance charges may apply.)
    • When you receive the invitation from the Zoom host, there should be a Meeting ID listed. When prompted for Meeting ID, enter the 9-digit number and then “#”
    • Some meetings will have a password as part of the invitation. If/when prompted for Password, enter the 6-digit number and then “#”

Don’t let this technology put you off.  Once you learn it, it is easy and a wonderful way to stay connected.  If you are having trouble joining the meeting, ask a friend to help.
